The Benzaiten hall of Irisawa

Benzaiten is one of the Seven Lucky Gods.
In the past, it was said that unhappiness will come from the direction of the southwest of the house. (裏鬼門)
Benzaiten was enshrined to prevent that unhappiness.
So, this Benzaiten hall was built around 1782 by Irisawa Families.
The building in this picture is a housing to protect the inner shrine from the elements.

The name of the Irisawa family's drugstore “Hinoya” is written in “Edo kaimono hitori annai (江戸買物独案内)” issued in March, 1824. It is a book like a “Tokyo Walker”.↓

The following figure shows the advertisement of the new store opening issued in 1861.
